Last updated: Agosto 10, 2026
This policy explains what personal data the Legal Trade app (com.ceale.legaltrade) and this website process, why, who we share it with, and how you can control it.
It is written in accordance with Chilean Law No. 19,628 on the protection of private life and Law No. 21,719, which modernises it.
This is a translation. In the event of any discrepancy, the Spanish version prevails.

1. Who is responsible for your data
The data controller is Sociedad de Profesionales Villanueva, Pérez, González y Asociados Limitada, nombre de fantasía «Centro de Estudios & Asesoría Legal Estratégica Limitada» (CEALE), domiciled in comuna de Viña del Mar, Región de Valparaíso, Chile.
Privacy contact: privacidad@legaltrade.cl.
The developer account used to distribute the app on the stores may be held by a related entity within the same professional group. That does not change the above: the controller of your personal data is the entity named in this paragraph.
2. What Legal Trade does
Legal Trade lets you check whether a customs criminal case is associated with a Chilean tax ID or a name, and estimate whether the limitation period for criminal prosecution has run. Case information comes from publicly accessible records and publications of the Chilean justice system.
The limitation status (the “traffic light”) is free to check. The full report and the lawyer consultation channel require a subscription and, in addition, proof that the tax ID you are checking belongs to you.
3. What data we process
3.1 Data you give us
| Data | When collected | Required |
|---|---|---|
| Email address | When you create an account, with email and password or with Sign in with Google | Yes |
| Password | Only if you register with email. Stored irreversibly hashed, never in plain text | No, if you use Google |
| Name and company | If you choose to complete your profile | No |
| Declared tax ID | When you request access to a full report | Only for paid features |
| Proof of ownership document | When proving the tax ID is yours, for example an identity card or corporate document | Only for paid features |
| Consultation messages | When you write in the lawyer consultation channel | No |
| Preferred language | When you choose a language in the app | No |
3.2 Data generated through use
- Subscription: plan, status, expiry date, the store that processed the payment and the purchase identifier it gives us. We neither receive nor store your card or bank details: payment is processed entirely by Google Play or the App Store.
- Followed cases: which cases you flagged for alerts.
- Audit log: which account accessed which report and when. This log exists precisely to protect the people whose data appears in the cases.
- Search statistics: the normalised search text, the number of results and the language. This record is not linked to your account and is used only to measure usage and improve results.
3.3 Third-party data appearing in cases
Our database contains data on people who appear as parties in customs cases: name, aliases or transliterations, tax ID and their link to a case. These people are normally not users of the app. Section 4 explains how we handle this information.
4. Criminal case data and public sources
Data relating to criminal offences and proceedings receives heightened protection under Chilean law. We handle it under the following rules, which form part of this policy and are not mere internal practice.
- Public origin. Case information comes from publicly accessible records and publications of the Judiciary and State bodies. We do not buy databases and we do not obtain information through restricted channels.
- Masked by default. In search results the tax ID is always partially hidden. The app does not expose the complete figure to anyone who has not proved ownership.
- Ownership required. The full case report is unlocked only for someone who proves the tax ID belongs to them or that they represent the legal entity that holds it. Legal Trade is not, and cannot be used as, a service for investigating third parties.
- No profiling, no automated decisions. The traffic light is a calculation of time limits over objective dates. We do not assess creditworthiness, risk, conduct or any personal characteristic, and no decision with legal effects is taken automatically.
- No commercial transfer. We do not sell, rent or transfer this data to third parties for commercial, advertising or credit-scoring purposes, under any circumstances.
- Right to object. If your data is in our database because you appear in a case, you may request its rectification, blocking or deletion by writing to privacidad@legaltrade.cl, even if you have never used the app.
5. Why we use the data and on what basis
| Purpose | Data used | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Create and maintain your account | Email, password, Google identifier | Performance of the contract you accept in the Terms |
| Show search results and the traffic light | Case data from public sources | Legitimate interest in informing those who may be affected, with the safeguards in section 4 |
| Verify that a tax ID is yours | Declared tax ID and supporting document | Duty of care and performance of the contract |
| Manage your subscription | Subscription data supplied by the store | Performance of the contract |
| Answer your questions | Messages, language, data of the case consulted | Performance of the contract and your consent in writing to us |
| Send activity alerts | Followed cases and email | Your consent, revocable at any time |
| Security and abuse prevention | Audit log | Legitimate interest and duty to protect third parties |
| Comply with legal and tax obligations | Billing and account data | Legal obligation |
We do not use your data for advertising or commercial profiling, and we do not use it to train artificial intelligence models.
6. Who we share it with
Only with those strictly necessary for the service to work, and always under a duty of confidentiality:
| Third party | Purpose | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase, Inc. | Database, authentication and file storage | All app data, acting as data processor |
| Google LLC — Google Play | Processing subscription payments and distributing the app | Transaction data. We never receive your payment method |
| Google LLC — Sign in with Google | Password-free sign-in, if you choose it | Confirmation of your identity and your email |
| Apple Inc. | Distribution and billing on Apple devices, once the iOS version exists | Transaction data |
| Machine translation | Not currently used. Translations in the consultation channel are done by our professional team | — |
We may also disclose information where a law, a court or a competent authority formally requires it.
What is not there. The app contains no analytics, advertising, social media or third-party tracking tools. The only permissions it requests are internet access, network state and Google Play billing.
7. Where it is stored and international transfers
Data is hosted on Supabase infrastructure, in data centres located in São Paulo, Brazil (region sa-east-1). The Google and Apple services mentioned above may process data in the United States and other countries where they operate.
This involves an international transfer of data. By using the app you accept that it takes place. We require these providers to give contractual confidentiality and security commitments equivalent to our own.
8. How long we keep it
| Data | Retention |
|---|---|
| Account and profile | While the account is active; deleted when you close it |
| Proof of ownership document | Up to 12 months from verification, then deleted |
| Consultation channel messages | 5 years, under the duty to retain professional records |
| Subscription and billing records | 6 years, under Chilean tax and commercial rules |
| Audit log | 2 years |
| Search statistics (not linked to your account) | Indefinitely, in aggregate form |
| Case data from public sources | While it retains informational value, without prejudice to your right to deletion |
9. Your rights
In relation to your personal data you may exercise, at any time and free of charge:
- Access: find out what data of yours we process and obtain a copy.
- Rectification: correct data that is wrong, inaccurate or out of date.
- Deletion: ask us to erase your data when it is no longer needed or you withdraw consent.
- Objection: object to a specific processing activity, including alerts.
- Blocking: temporarily suspend processing while a dispute about your data is resolved.
- Portability: receive your data in a structured, commonly used format, or have it transferred to another controller where technically feasible.
These rights are personal and cannot be waived: no clause in this policy or in the Terms limits them.
10. How to exercise your rights
Write to privacidad@legaltrade.cl stating which right you wish to exercise and attaching a document that identifies you. If you act on behalf of another person or a company, also attach the corresponding power of attorney or corporate document.
We will reply within the periods set by law and, in any event, no later than 30 calendar days from receipt of a complete request. Should we need longer because of the complexity of the case, we will tell you before that period expires.
To close your account and delete your data there is also a direct procedure, described on the Delete account page.
If you believe we did not respond properly, you may complain to the competent personal data protection authority in Chile.
11. How we protect the information
- All traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted with TLS.
- Passwords are stored using irreversible derivation functions. No one on our team can read them.
- The database applies row-level security: each account reaches only its own records. Tables holding personal data are not anonymously accessible and are queried only through functions that already return masked values.
- Report accesses are recorded in the audit log described in section 3.2.
- Internal access is limited to the professionals who need it to handle your matter, all bound by professional secrecy.
No system is infallible. If a security breach affecting your data occurs and poses a significant risk to your rights, we will notify you and report it to the authority, as required by law.
12. Minors
Legal Trade is intended for people over 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If we detect an account created by a minor, we will delete it along with its data.
13. Cookies and trackers
This website is informational and sets no tracking, analytics or advertising cookies. Technical cookies may only be created if someone signs in to the site administration panel, which does not happen on a normal visit.
The mobile app contains no advertising identifiers and no cross-app tracking.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app or the applicable rules change. The date of the last update appears at the top of this page. If a change materially affects how we handle your data, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
